Christmas Tree Art Idea

December 10, 2022

I have seen this Christmas tree art idea floating around social media and my Pinterest for the past month or so and it looked too fun not to try!

J actually loved painting this even more than I thought she would. She has already been asking to do another one!

Christmas Tree Art Setup

This project is perfect for those parents who are “not creative”. Or maybe you just don’t have the time to do big intricate setups for your busy toddler. Just a small amount of prep on your end and your kid will be busy for a good chunk of time.

This took 1 paper towel roll (or 2 toilet paper rolls will do the trick), the side of a cereal box, and school glue.

Cut the tube into rings half an inch or so wide and glue them to the cardboard in the shape of a Christmas tree. Give them 30 minutes to dry. Set it out with a couple of brushes and 3 or 4 colors of paint on a paper plate.

Set out some newspaper or something on the table first to minimize cleanup.

You can show your child how to paint inside the circles if you want. With J, I actually didn’t give any instruction at all. She was excited to get right to work so I sat back and let her take the lead.

And yep, that’s it! J worked at the Christmas tree art for 10-15 minutes before moving on to paint the paper underneath it. She loves painting and this was a big hit for her! 10/10 recommend!

She loved this so much that I’m going to experiment with some other shapes for her as well! So Stay tuned for that! Follow my Instagram for regular updates and ideas.
